El artista Ned Kahn realizó en 2002, junto con el centro de ciencias Technorama, una fachada 'cinetica' mediante paneles de aluminio que se mueven acorde a las corrientes de aire, revelando visual y sonóramente patrones de las mismas.
Ned Kahn trabaja enfatizando elementos naturales (viento, agua, fuego, aire, neblina, etc), en lo que el llama "observatorios", remarcando especialmente la observación de patrones de comportamiento recurrentes en la naturaleza, y que instantáneamente nos hacen pensar en teorías del caos, en pi y en phi, proporciones áureas, e incluso en rizomas.
Y por otro lado nos hace pensar en el realmente escazo conocimiento que tenemos los arquitectos de los fenómenos naturales que inciden permanentemente, voluntaria o involuntariamente, en la arquitectura.
Artist Ned Kahn developed in 2002 together with science center Technorama a kinetic façade by using aluminum panels which would move following air currents, thus revealing air patterns both visually and acoustically.
Kahn works by emphasizing natural elements such as wind, fog, fire, etc, in what he calls “observatories”, searching above all behaviour patterns which are recurrent in nature, and which instantly make us think of Chaos theories, Pi & Phi, golden ratio, and even of rhizomes.
On another level, this makes me also think (and a recurrent thought that is), of the little knowledge architects have about this sort of natural phenomena which permanently, and voluntarily or involuntarily, influence buildings.
